A Brief note Regarding ITS Activities

On the basis of merit, the various activities undertaken, organizational strength and financial stability. The Coimbatore malayali samajam is the biggest organization of its kind in the whole of India.

The Coimbatore Malayali samajam was established in the year 1955 and it represents the vast majority of the Malayali population numbering about 4 lakhs in the city of Coimbatore.

Educational Activities

The Samajam has established the following educational Institutions;
1. C.M.S. College of Education B.Ed. Ganapathy.
2. C.M.S. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, English Medium. Ganapathy.
3. C.M.S. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Maniakkarapalayam,
English Medium. Ganapathy.
4. C.M.S. Malayalam High School (Govt Aided) Ganapathy.
5. C.M.S. Primary School, (Malayalam). (Govt Aided) Gandhipuram.
6. C.M.S. Nursery & Primary School, (English Medium) Gandhipuram.
7. C.M.S. College of Science and Commerce Affiliated to the Bharathiar University,
Coimbatore established by a separate Trust.
8. C.M.S. Engineering College Kumittipathy.
9. C.M.S. IMS ( Institute of Management Studies )
10. C.M.S. AMT ( Academy of Management and Technology )

All the educational Institutions except item are recognized by the Tamil Nadu Government and item numbers 3 and 4 above are getting aid from the Tamil Nadu Government. The total student’s strength of the above institutions is over 5000

Cultural and Social Activities

The samajam has been encouraging its members in creative arts and organizing quality performance, staging Malayalam Dramas, undertaking musical performances and other items of fine arts. The samajam has also encouraged the members to write Malayalam Dramas, direct them and also publish the drama books at its cost. Samajam is also conducting Malayalam Coaching class and issues certificates for all those who are interested to learn Malayalam language.

Library and Reading Room

There is a library with more than 6000 volumes and a reading rooms with about 30 periodicals and newspapers are being provided.

The CMS Ladies Wing

There is a well organized ladies wing The members of this ladies wing assemble every Saturday and undertake useful services, for the women fold such as taking cooking classes embroidery classes, arranging sports and undertaking social services. The ladies wing makes the CMS an organization of families rather than individuals.

Working Women Hostel

We have established a working women’s hostel costing about Rs.25 Lakhs. About 120 ladies in this hostel at very modest cost. This is working without any profit motive.

Social Service Scheme

The members of the samajam attend to requests from the members and render help to them at times of calamities such as death chronic diseases etc. The expenses are met and other arrangements are made at the cost of samajam in deserving cases. Scholarships, fee concession, free supply of books and uniforms to the students are also provided every year on a liberal scale.

Sports and Games

There is a well organized sports wing with facilities for all types of indoor games and these are made use of by the men and women members in a very effective manner. Tournaments in District level and other competitions are conducted regularly.
